Hope Floats

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Virtually everyone knows someone who has been affected by this disease. With new research, there is new hope. With early detection, there is new hope. Thankfully, we now know more survivors and not just more patients. For some of these survivors, hope of healing literally floats.

WeCanRow is a program that was founded in 2002 in Boston by an Olympic Gold Medalist - Holly Metcalf. Since then, 8 other chapters have been established, one of them in Buffalo, NY.

“We Can Row is specifically designed to allow breast cancer survivors to reorient themselves with their bodies, giving women a sense of control and putting them in contact with other breast cancer survivors. Rowing helps survivors to re-build physical strength and mental focus, renew self-image and develop the bond of teamwork with women who have had similar cancer experiences. (WeCanRow - Buffalo Website).”

As a former Division 1 collegiate rower I was inspired by the work WeCanRow is doing for breast cancer survivors. Rowing has played a significant role in my life and I am certain it is playing a significant role in the healing of these brave women.

As a business owner, I wanted to help raise funds for this organization so that they can continue to offer these programs to women in the area. That is why, during the month of October, I will have pink ribbon earrings available for purchase with $5 dollars being donated to WeCanRow Buffalo from the purchase of every pair of earrings.

Thank you for supporting these women as they work hard towards their recovery. If you would like to purchase a pair of these ribbon earrings, please click the button below.
